It’s a relaxing day so we started our day with breakfast in the hotel. There are lots of good food all around but we felt like lazing in the morning. The hotel spread though small was quite tasty. Simple porridge with spring onions, soy sauce, fermented Beancurd and ikan bilis. Tomatoes and scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms. Banana.

Then we headed out for some famous apong at apong Guan’s. It’s actually coconut pancakes with sliced bananas and sweet corn. Apong Guan is located at Jalan Burma. It’s a pushcart so he maybe anywhere along Jalan Burma. The apongs were delicious! Not too sweet and had the crunch from the corn. Each apong cost RM0.50.

We walked to New World Park Hawker center next. This place is nice and clean. Known for their char hor fun (seafood thick rice noodle and vermicelli), fruit rojak (fruit and cuttlefish mixed with prawn paste) and Ang tau sng (red bean ice). Char hor fun had wok hei so I liked it and tasted great with the green chilis. The fruit rojak was nice with ample prawn paste and spiciness gave a kick. At the same stall Apple juice was the sweetest I’ve ever tasted and the Ang Tao Sng needless to say, endless bowls were being served.

The chee cheong fun stall was also really popular so we ordered or kueh (yam cake), chai kueh (vege dumpling) and otah fish cake. They were all good, especially the topping on the kuehs which was fried tiny shrimp with onions, yums!

Beside the chee Chong fun stall, they had my favorite penang dessert, crispy pancake (ban chean kueh). They were delicious with heaps of bananas!

We walked back and got a mee koo from hoe Peng.

For dinner, we had oyster omelette and char hor fun from Yi Garden. Oyster omelette was quite special, it was fried with radish (chai poh – Chinese dried radish) and tasted good. For RM8, we got a huge portion. I would say give Gao Lao Sar hor fun a miss as there was no wok hei in the noodles and the vege and seafood were very little. I would choose New World Park’s over this anytime.
