TWG @ Ion Orchard

TWG (The Wellness Group) is a brand of fine teas founded in Singapore since 2008. Within a few years, they became a world known brand with their products sold in many countries. They have also opened tea salons and boutiques in countries locally as well as many other countries.

Their tea salons have opulent decor with a lot of gold which look and give a feel of exclusivity only fit for the rich. However, their teas, products, and food are affordable by most.

We had lunch at Aoki and so came for some light bites. We ordered 2 sets of 1837 plus an addition pot of tea (as there were 3 of us). Each set consist of a choice of tea from their endless selection, choice of 2 muffins or scones served with tea jelly and whipped cream.

The tea jellies which we did not know what flavors were really good, fragrant and lightly sweetened. The whipped cream went very well with the warm scones. Muffins were also warmed.

I did not take pictures of the tea but we had the following recommended by our server:
1837 – named after the year when tea trade was made official in Singapore with the creation of the Chamber of Commerce. This is a unique blend of black tea with notes of fruits and flowers from the Bermuda triangle which leaves a lingering aftertaste of ripe berries, anise, and caramel.

Bain de rose – In the month of May, the roses of Grasse come into bloom, enveloping Provence with an incomparable and luxurious perfume. Masterfully blended by TWG Tea, this sensual Darjeeling is a magical union of extraordinary roses and hints of vanilla.

Genmaicha – A traditional Japanese specialty of exquisite green tea blended with roasted and popped rice. Mild and smooth, this TWG tea produces a bright infusion with a unique, toasted flavour.

While the rose and green tea were good, my favorite was 1837. True to its name, was very enjoyable. I loved the fruity notes and the lingering mild sweet taste of spice and fruits.
