After a good meal at The Clifford Pier, we checked into The Fullerton for our staycation!

From Clifford Square, we took the underpass to Fullerton Hotel which is an old post office converted into a hotel. Like Fullerton Bay hotel, the exterior of the hotel buildings were restored.

This is our 2nd staycation at The Fullerton. Our Quay room faced Singapore River. We were lucky the last time to get a Quay room facing the marina bay area. Rooms facing the Singapore river just above the swimming pool were not very ideal. If there are rowdy guests or kids, the noise resonates. But it’s nice to see the cavenagh bridge and boats passing by.

The hotel staff who served us was kind to note our birthday and anniversary. A big slice of chocolate ganache cake, strawberries and a bottle of red wine were sent up to our room. We ate the cake with strawberries. Yummy!

Breakfast spread at Town Restaurant was a feast. At Fullerton, it’s a haven for tourists and visitors as they get to taste the local fare like coffee and toast, prata, etc… There is the usual salad, cold cuts, fruits, milk, yoghurt, juice, cereal bar and cheese board. Not sure if many hotels in Singapore offer cheese board for breakfast.

There’s Indian on one side of the salad bar and they offer dhall curry, spinach with feta, some Indian salads and prata with curry chicken (a local favorite). Loved the dhall curry.

The Japanese section offered the usual miso soup and rice. They also had tempura mackerel & my favorite oden! Mackerel was good but the oden was too salty.

Very good selection of breads, pastries and jams. A pity the croissants weren’t crispy anymore. They had wholewheat croissants with black sesame, ‘healthier’ choice?

The station with most variety was next to the outdoor area. Eggs, dim sum, bacon and sausages, tomatoes and baked beans, Chinese noodles, waffles and pancakes, baked chicken pao (a Malaysian favorite, which is also called Siew Bao), nasi lemak (another local favorite), Chinese porridge and condiments. Glad to see the traditional kopi (coffee) and toast set available. While trying the traditional coffee, we suggest adding both evaporated and condensed milk to ensure a thick cup of enjoyable coffee.
