Mercado de la Boquería, Barcelona – Spain

No trip to Barcelona is complete without a visit to La Boqueria, a large market along the La Rambla. Here, everything is available from fruits, vegetables, nuts, meats, seafood, small cafes, etc… A diverse selection of goods and souvenirs for tourists especially. Prices are quite reasonable and most shops/ stalls allow testing or sampling. We tried a few versions and types of jamón ibérico and chorizo from a few stalls before deciding which to buy.

We also got strawberries. They were very fresh and sweeter than most we can get from Singapore. Was really tempted to get the fresh figs but held back as the next few days would be indulgence of food (in the next post on where to explore for food in Barcelona). Stay tuned!

Just before we left, ‘Marilyn’ was waving from the Erotic Museum of Barcelona at the people on the streets across the market!

Do note that the market is closed on Sunday’s like many other shops. Do check opening days and times before visiting.
