Simple homemade dishes

Being healthy need not be boring… Felt like Japanese and Sichuan food so what’s better than making it myself than going to 2 restaurants?

Started with japanese, the onsen tamago… It’s actually soft boil eggs, soaked in a mixture of dashi stock, mirin, Japanese cooking wine, soy sauce and water. The outcome was soft whites and creamy yolk with the fragrance of the soaking mixture. Perfect with a bowl of ramen!

Next up was fruits galore! A salad of oranges, kiwi, blueberries topped with passion fruit. Vitamin C packed!

Continuing to be healthy, made stir fried eggplant. This was a simple stir fry with olive oil, sliced garlic, and a little soy sauce. When done, top with some kecap manis (Indonesian sweet sauce) and some balsamic vinegar. Yummy!

Lastly, something Sichuan… Dumplings with spicy sauce! The sauce was made with Sichuan chili peppers, vinegar, soy sauce, mirin and chopped garlic.

Dumplings were 2 versions, fish and coriander, and pork with spring onions. They were steamed and drizzled with the spicy sauce, topped with coriander. And the final product…
