It has been a few hot days in Penang and the thought of Penang hill seemed like a good idea as we have never been up there in the last 2 visits. Plus we can escape from the heat.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by a spacious reception leading to the ticket booth. To ride the train we paid RM30 per person.

The hill is 833m above sea level. The railway looked so steep, it was quite amazing yet scary. The track seemed like it went on forever, we could not see the endpoint until several minutes later.

Penang hill was established by the British comprising of several hills. We only managed the peak and Halliburton hill. Weather up there was great, it was at least 5 degrees celcius cooler than the ground. There was an owl museum, food court and hotel at the peak.

We took the buggy ride (RM30 per buggy – fits 5 to 6 pax) which brought us to the British houses now occupied by rich locals. We could not view the houses but only look from outside. The ride lasted less than 30min.

The view up there was great, may have been better at night though.

We were not too keen to visit the owl museum so gave it a miss. Foodcourt did not offer much and was quite empty.

Then we headed to the airport to return home.

Settled dinner at Secret Recipe at the airport. Nasi lemak and mushroom chicken.
