Today we explored central Singapore from Somerset MRT/ Killiney Road to Martin Road (1.3km) where Common Man Coffee Roasters was located. It’s a very busy cafe and always packed whenever we passed by. They serve bistro food and supposedly very good coffee. And indeed they did.
We were there for lunch. Ordered a flat white and it was very good. The foam atop the coffee was very fine. The coffee had a chocolatey body, not overly strong and was very enjoyable 8/10. We shared the crab salad which had a generous serving of crab, pomegranate, rocket plus other greens and avocado, it was healthy and delicious 8/10! Now the highlight was organic eggs benedict… Ooh with ox cheek 8.5/10. It’s the first time ox cheek’s present with eggs ben! And the taste, just heavenly with the eggs perfectly cooked, orange yolk oozing onto the sourdough, mixed with Hollandaise sauce, yummy! A must try!

We then continue to walk along Robertson Quay to Liang Court (1.3km) and onto MCCY and Ministry of Communications and Information. Unfortunately they were closed to public. Next to the ministries was one of the entrances to Fort Canning Park. We did not explore the park and went straight to Funan DigitaLife Mall (650m) to check out some gadgets. After that we walked to City Hall (550m) to do some window shopping. We did not take any photos of Funan and City Hall.
Our next stop was Plaza Singapura (1.4km), for more window shopping and dinner at Sukiya. This restaurant serves hotpot with eat all you can eat meat/ fish (salmon, beef, chicken and pork), vegetables, and other ingredients (such as chicken cheese ball, seafood tofu, cheese tofu, etc). There were also free flow drinks and ice cream. Do not expect top quality food for the price of $31.90+ per pax on a weekend. Overall I’d give this restaurant a 6.5/10 for service, food quality and ambience.
We then headed back to Somerset MRT (1.1km) where we ended our walk for the day. The total distance we clocked today was 6.3km.
