Staycation – Westin Singapore

Westin Singapore had been one of the hotels we’d love to try. Finally, 2 days before a beautiful weekend, we made a reservation. It has been raining every afternoon but this particular weekend, we had beautiful weather with blue skies.

Entering the hotel building (Asia square tower 2) on level 1, there was a Daily Treats cafe and the concierge. Check in was on lev 32. We were welcomed by Miguel (front desk manager). Our check in was quick, seamless and it was nice to get upgraded to a premier sea view when we originally booked a double sea view room. As one of us is an SPG (Starwood preferred guest) we received free wifi and dining discounts. Fret not, anyone can sign up and receive the same perks anyway.

The lobby was very nice, spacious and elegant with high ceiling and tasteful decor. I’m biased towards earthy and bluish/ turquoise colors. From the lobby, the views of the marina Bay Area was amazing and the lobby lounge was ideal for guests to laze and enjoy the scenery. There was also a heavenly spa, gym and pool located on lev 35. Unfortunately though they had an infinity pool, there was not much views because of the surrounding buildings…

Our room was a generous 46sqm with floor to ceiling glass walls in the room, bathtub and shower areas, perfect to enjoy the view which was the same as the lobby’s.

The various views when we checked in, when the sun set and in the evening… Beautiful!

Food within the hotel includes the

  1. Daily Treats on lev 1
  2. Seasonal tastes on lev 32
  3. Lobby lounge on lev 32
  4. Cook & brew on lev 33

Seasonal taste serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. Breakfast was average and nothing spectacular other than freshly squeezed watermelon, carrot juice and perhaps the cheese platter. So we’d recommend to only have breakfast if it’s included in the room rate, otherwise it’s $45++. To us it wasn’t worth it.

Lunch spread looked much more interesting for about the same price as breakfast. There was a pasta section where guests choose their pasta and ingredients, noodle section, very nice dessert island and an extensive cold cut/ salad section.

Cook & brew is a gastro bar serving high end pub grub and a good collection of beers from around the world. We liked the decor of the restaurant but do not expect any views as the restaurant is placed on the same side as the pool. The black cod was very fresh and the peppers tastes of the natural sweetness, mussels were very fresh too!

In addition to the mentioned, the hotel provides sports gear for those who wish to keep fit but do not want to pack any extra items at a nominal cost…

We enjoyed the stay at Westin and hope to be back again to stay and try their high tea…
