This inconspicuous restaurant is situated in zhongxiao dunhua area and is conveniently located from the metro station. You’ll just have to look out for a dimly lit small establishment right below the civic blvd.
This is a no frills restaurant. No menu, so simply let the waitress know what you do not like or eat. Orders are placed by budget, starting from NT 1800 per person, up to NT 5000. Sake which were recommended by the waitress were also good, we picked 2 bottles ranging from NT 2600 – 2800 per bottle. The sake dispenser was interesting. A glass is placed under the nozzle, push upwards to release the sake then poured into our respective glasses.
We opted for NT 2500 per pax and started the meal with nasu with miso goma sauce, then a few slices of hirame
Next, hotate wrapped with nori and kaki dipped with shoyu. The scallop was really fresh and seasoned lightly with salt and aburi-ed, and wrapped with crispy nori, absolutely delicious!
Next shimaji sashimi says the chef (but somehow looked like threadfin to me?), buri sashimi and botan ebi sushi
Ebi toro sushi, Sanma sushi
Sake, Akamatsu, negi toro maki
Hirame yamaimo tamago (texture of this omelette was special, it was smooth and springy), tai in yuba sauce (apparently there were lily root and clam in this dish too)
Soba, soup, fruits & goma pudding
Worth a visit if you’re in Taipei!
