Bright and sunny, decided to post a picture across my room….. Itinerary of the day was Kawagoe. The journey from shinjuku was about an hour. There is a straight JR train from shinjuku. From kawagoe JR station, either walk to Honkawagoe or take a bus.
We walked and along the way had lunch at kanetora restaurant. Beef karubi lunch sets were reasonably priced at ¥900/ set and was quite good except that the beef was sinewy.
To obtain an exploration map of kawagoe, there is a tourist information counter at Honkawagoe station. Even with the person speaking limited English, I was able to communicate with her fairly well.
It’s fairly easy to explore the town, it’s a straight path from Honkawagoe station. There were many shops along the way similar to Kyoto where one can try different local foods, visit temples, museums, specialty streets, etc… Be there early as shops start closing at about 4.30.
Almost all buses along the way back will stop at Honkawagoe and kawagoe stations. To walk back, it’ll take about 45min to reach Honkawagoe station and about an hour or more to reach kawagoe station.
We had dinner at Lumine 1 – hamburg steak, potato gratin, seafood risotto
