Cambridge – Madingley Hall

It’s a nice morning to chill at the silverkris business lounge (changi airport terminal 3) waiting to board SQ308 to London.

Had light bites at the lounge. Laksa (local favorite usually with rice noodle, tofu puff, fish cakes, eggs, prawns and cockles). Mine was without noodles and cockles. Next, tried the Harkow (shrimp dumplings), fried carrot cake (another local favorite that is fried with chopped radish cake with egg) and Brie cheese. The Brie was yums and so was my double espresso!

On board, my chosen main course was braised beef & radish noodles which was so so. Had the cappuccino but was not good, too milky and light for my liking.

Throughout the flight, tried the 2011 Yering Station Chardonnay, Tamanohikari ginjyo sake which was pretty good, Pago de los Cappellanes Tinto Crianza (Spanish Tempranillo) and 2011 Dandelion Vineyards ‘Lionheart of the Barossa’ Shiraz which was my favorite. Burp!

Snacks available on flight were assorted nuts, kit kat bars, dried cranberries, potato chips, biscuits and fruits. Tried the illy single origin Ethiopian coffee which was smooth and fruity.

Prior to landing in London, had the SQ signature satay, seasonal salad with marinated prawns and asparagus with honey mustard dressing, Matt Moran’s roasted chicken breast, balsamic jus, sweet and sour capsicums, vegetable gratin, asparagus. Dessert was Mung sumparang cheom (Thai style tapioca with coconut).

Booked the OTS taxi service to Cambridge. Service was good and driver was in time. Her car was comfortable too and I stole a nap on the way.

Arrived in Cambridge Madingley Hall within 2hrs in time for a quick shower then dinner. Great place with basic rooms, fresh air, good food.
