Boxhill is a multicultural suburb in Victoria. It’s about 14km away from the Melbourne city and there is a big Chinese population around there.

In boxhill, one can get all sorts of Chinese produce and the market though very small is sufficient. There are also a lot of food in boxhill. There is a Pancake Village that I like and also a magic cuisine both operated by the same person, Cathy Han.

Magic cuisine sells ready to go Chinese specialty foods like stewed beef, chicken feet, quails eggs, stewed seaweed, pork skin jelly, stewed beancurd shreds, and many more…

I got the quails eggs, shredded beancurd and stewed peanuts which were all yummy. The quail eggs were indented because of the container’s closed lid. 3 dishes cost me less than AUD$10.

For pancake village, I love their savory tofu thick soup. It’s such a hearty dish to have on a cold winter’s day. It’s full of mushrooms and the tofu is silky smooth! Another thing they have is the you tiao (Chinese doughnut) crepe or pancake. It’s special sauce with spring onions and eggs on a pancake wrapped you tiao. It’s also good, savory, sweet, satisfying without being too heavy. A meal here (a pancake and soup) cost me AUD $7.

There was also a Taiwanese mini foodcourt which made fresh steamed pork buns (xiaolongbao), noodles and desserts but we did not have space for more food.
