When I first knew about a Bbq high tea I was thrilled! As a fan of grilled and bbq foods, I had to try this buffet. At $38++ per person we thought it wasn’t too bad. The bbq high tea @ Cafe Brios is only available on Saturdays from 2 – 5pm. The spread was quite impressive and the view was great, facing the river.
Let’s start with the bbq section. Chicken wings and satay are musts. They had bratwurst and Taiwanese sausage! Then there was also my favorite tau kwa pau (fried beancurd stuffed with cucumber and beansprouts), you tiao, dried cuttlefish and otak!
The chicken wing was quite bland. The Taiwanese sausage was average as it lacked fragrance. Bratwurst was yummy! The satay was good, the tau kwa pau and cuttlefish could be grilled longer. But otherwise good.
Salads & sushi – there were quite a few types of salads but the Japanese section was a tad disappointing as there was no sashimi. They also had the DIY rojak.
Cooked food section – included nasi lemak, dim sums, turkey and ham (as it was Christmas at that time), laksa, kong bak pau (braised pork bun), roasted vegetables, and more…
Desserts – log cakes (as it was the festive season), tau suan (split mung bean dessert), Cheng tng (another Chinese dessert with a variety of ingredients), cupcakes, and more including fruits were available. There was also an ice kachang station.
Drinks – self serve coffee/ tea/ hot chocolate. Loved the very retro looking iced lemon tea and barley drink dispenser with the acrylic container and scoop!
Overall would give the buffet
7.5/10 for variety and having a BBQ station
6.5/10 for the food quality
