Happy New Year everyone! We began the year with a staycation at The Club. Located along Ann Siang Road, this boutique hotel is a haven for club goers and those who wish to conveniently explore Chinatown/ Tanjong Pagar.
What’s more, there’s ample good food options at reasonable prices with Maxwell Food Centre in less than 5min walk at Kandanayallur St and Amoy Food Centre in less than 10min walk away via Ann Siang Hill. We will be sharing more of the yummilicious food from these 2 food centres and the rooftop restaurant in our next post.
We only decided on this staycation on New Year’s Eve. This 3 storey and a rooftop establishment has 20 rooms and 2 suites and we’re lucky to have booked ourselves a suite. The hotel entrance was through Mr & Mrs Maxwell, the hotel’s cosy cafe serving all meals, with a bar offering coffee, fruit juices and alcoholic beverages.
The check in counter area was quite tiny compared to most hotels but as the hotel is not a big development, it was still a comfortable space for guests as we could also use the tables from the cafe.
Onto the lift with adjacent doors and to level 2 where our suite was. A hotel staff was waiting on level 2, brought us to our room and explained the facilities.
Our room came with Hypnos beds used by the royal family, Ploh bedding and plush robes which were so soft and comfy, Bamford organic toiletries, Nespresso machine with ample capsules, Gryphon tea and a well stocked mini bar full of juices and drinks. The bathroom was really nice and had a tub. Samsung TV could be pulled out and angled to suit our comfort and it came with apps to keep us entertained.
Some Christmas decor remained and we were presented with a very refreshing and citrusy non alcoholic cocktail, loved it!
Sumptuous breakfast in bed was a nice touch. Too bad the coffee was lukewarm by the time they arrived and latte art gone…
We stayed in room 207 and we enjoyed it overall except for the noise till about 2am from the clubs downstairs and the cable TV/ WiFi connection may be weak causing intermittent disconnections. The staff were friendly and overall service was good.
Stay tuned to the next post on what to eat when staying at The Club!
