Lunch – lotus eatery (7.5/10)
Took a taxi from the hotel which was less than 10min and cost only CNY 14. This was a Yunnan restaurant. We had wild vege salad which was nice and refreshing with lotsa coriander roots, minced pork omelette, minced beef which was yums, and the tomato fish soup which was appetizing! The meal cost about CNY 150! What a deal!
Yuyuan rd – Jingan temple
Decided to explore the hotel, walked from Nikko to nanjing east rd, past wulumuqi road to Jingan temple then to yuyuan road for tea at a Taiwanese cafe.
Xintiandi – high end shopping district
Though high end, this place was really pretty! Food and shopping were good, a place for the high life with branded clothing and watch boutiques and reputable hotels, including Langham and Andaz with posh decor. The old buildings converted to restaurants, spas, pubs and Cafes captivated me, love the old structures which were so well maintained!
Had a nice dinner at one Japanese restaurant, 8 pieces of special sushi and a sea urchin chawanmushi with a flask of cold sake for about CNY 130.
Bund @ night
The bund is pretty romantic at night if not for so many people also visiting and taking pictures. The lit up buildings were beautiful and the skyscrapers across were decked in pretty lights! Mesmerizing!
That’s the end of the 3 short days in Shanghai. Hope to be back again to explore Suzhou and Hangzhou!
