Shanghai 2015 -hotel, around hotel, Xintiandi

It was Mar 2014 when I was last in Shanghai and have not stayed for more than 3 nights. It’s touch and go and it’s no exception this time. However with the very limited time I have, would have to optimize every minute I have to explore more.

This time, I stayed at the JW Marriott Tomorrow Square. It’s located on Nanjing West Road, more convenient than Nikko. Food and service was also much better than Nikko.

Great amenities, especially their toiletries. Great smelling, spa like, essential oils blend by Aromatherapy Associates. I had to bring back 2 more tubes of their body lotion as I loved it!

Spacious room, full mini bar and tea/ coffee making facilities. Arrived early in the morning and was hungry. Cafe buffet breakfast was CNY 228 and so I ordered a dim sum basket for CNY 78 instead. And did I mention that I was on level 46, so the view was amazing. The People’s Park and city hall were just right below.

Around the hotel, there were quite a few areas to explore like the Nanjing Road Pedastrian Street (南京路步行街, NRPS), along Nanjing West Road towards NRPS, and if up for it, to one side would be XinTianDi and the other The Bund.

Just in the vicinity of the hotel, there were many hole in the wall eateries in the little streets. There were also many small shops selling crickets and aquariums. Around the People’s Park, there were some street snack stalls.

Further down, past the Shanghai Museum, there’s K11, a 61 storey high building which houses many cafes, high end shopping and careative and artistic displays.

Next on, Xintiandi. The place where the hip, happening and rich go… I always liked older buildings and so this place brings nostalgia…. Loves!

We stopped by Icha for some tea. They believe in using the highest quality teas, water, brewing techniques to bring the best drinks to consumers. We tried their red jade 18 (CNY 52) and fruits fusion (CNY 36).
